22nd May 2015 - Quintinshill Remembered

On the evening of the 22nd of May, the band were honoured to lead the memorial parade marking the centenary of the Quintinshill rail disaster in Larbert. The band have long had an association with this event, as members of the original Camelon Pipe Band were amongst those first on the scene of the crash, and many members of the band volunteered to take the places of those who lost their lives.

The parade route was from the Old Church in Larbert to the east car park at the Rail Station in Larbert. There was then a short service of remembrance, followed by a civic reception in the Dobbie Hall.

In preparation for the centenary, several banners were produced about the event, including one detailing the role of the Camelon Pipe Band in the aftermath. We were grateful to receive this banner after the parade.

Our thanks go to Councillor Billy Buchanan for inviting us to lead the parade.
